12 Hours in the Wild West is a smaller event (200 racers) out in the middle of nowhere, and it';s gorgeous country. It makes for awesome trails that are truly singletrack and unaltered terrain where mountain vistas and wildlife and par for the course. The course is not super technical and not very rocky, although there are a couple of short rocky sections to keep you honest. Primarily, its fast, smooth, and fun. The course is by far the most popular part of the race. The event is also known for the hospitality of the community and for the friendliness of fellow racers - if you want a laid back race where you meet new people and get some miles in the saddle, this is it.
