Common Core Implementation and LCFF - CISI Fall 2013 Workshops - Fresno COE California Institute for School Improvement (CISI) Fall 2013 Workshop Details California public schools will undergo the most significant and historic changes seen in decades with the implementation of both the Common Core State Standards and an entirely new school funding system. While these major issues will dominate our discussion at this year's fall CISI workshops, there are a number of interconnected parts and politics that every school leader should know. In addition to a close examination of LCFF and the direction the State is likely to take on the Local Control Accountability Plan, we will dig deeply into the challenges and opportunities of implementing the common core standards, moving to a new assessment system and ultimately a new system of school accountability. The CISI workshops are designed to pull these various issues together in a review of the ?Top Ten issues in Education,? that will help local educators anticipate state and federal policies and plan more effectively for the year ahead. The Center for Applied Policy in Education has partnered with Capitol Advisors Group's excellent staff to present the CISI Fall Briefing Workshops. Presenters will include Jack O'Connell, former CA Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kevin Gordon, Gerry Shelton and Barrett Snider, all partners in Capitol Advisors Group.
