NEW CHANGES FOR 2014 SERIES
Read details below before you register.
We are making some changes to the FFBC Cinderella Training Series this year. Our intent is to reconfigure the series to better suit the needs of the participants.
Train for a 100k ride
We will have a Coaching Series, intended for new riders to help them learn the fundamentals of cycling, and a Conditioning Series, intended for riders who have already learned the fundamentals and who just want to have a fun group to ride with while training for a metric century.
Build your skills and endurance
Both series will progress in distance and elevation over 11 weeks in preparation to complete metric century distance events, such as the Valley Spokesmen Cinderella Classic or our own club ride, the Primavera Century. These two series will be offered on Saturdays.
The training series will run 11 weeks from January 18 to March 29 (Valley Spokesmen Cinderella Ride is on April 5)
What is the Coaching Series?
This is a women's only, beginner's series. The emphasis will be on practicing the skills - nothing we ask is going to be tremendously difficult (wait until you meet your coaches and you will understand: if we can do it, so can you!) Our goal is to ingrain the fundamentals of safe and efficient cycling in each student, so doing the right things will be become a habit - and you can save the adrenalin for the exceptional cases. Registration is required on active.com
What is the Conditioning Series?
This is a co-ed series for FFBC members. You will continue to train with the same ride leaders you have ridden with year after year, but in a more casual club ride atmosphere. All rides will be no drop rides, so you have no fear of being left behind! If you have ridden in a group before, have good bike handling skills, or have participated in our training series in the past, this is where you belong.
What about the Climb and Challenge Groups?
Starting the same weekend as the Cinderella Series on Sundays, FFBC offers two other training options for its members - The Progressive Rides and The Less Aggressive Progressive Rides.
How do I join the other series?
You do not need to register on active. com To participate in the Conditioning Series, The Progressive Rides or the Less Progressive Rides, go to the FFBC website: http://www.fremontfreewheelers.org/ and become a club member ($20 fee). Details of the rides (exact dates and start locations) will be published in the monthly ride calendar.
