MMRF Progressive Marathon
MMRF POWERTEAM – Progressive Marathon
Who says you have to run the entire 26.2 miles in one day? Participate in the new “Progressive Marathon” where you accumulate the 26.2 miles over several different days or weeks. Run or walk your marathon in segments of your choosing and keep track on a “mileage tally sheet” that we will provide. Once you have finished your marathon, you will receive an official MMRF medal, and be able to memorialize your accomplishment. If you are new to running, if you are a myeloma patient or if you are too young to train for long distance running, this is the program for you! You can decide how to run your miles, but many of our ‘Progressive Marathoners will choose to participate in on of our MMRF Race for Research 5Ks as the final race in their 26.2 miles. Check out our schedule to see when that is: MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Runs Participating in an athletic event or other physical challenge is a wonderful opportunity to honor friends and loved ones with multiple myeloma while raising funds to support the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) in its mission to bring patients new treatments and find a cure for multiple myeloma. The MMRF is able to provide training and fundraising support at events of your choice!
The MMRF invites you to help us raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research by joining our MMRF PowerTeam. Team members also receive race day team jerseys and assistance in securing an event entry if needed.
In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as marathon registration, transportation and hotel accommodations.
About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised go toward research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
Why Join Our Team?
Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma, but we also have many team members who join because they want to support a great organization that is using their money responsibly and is making breakthroughs in medical research.
