The UAB Fall Instructional Camp (FIC) is designed to provide area high school baseball players an opportunity to stay sharp off-season. It is intended for those who plan to play on their high school's varsity or junior varsity, or freshman baseball team.
The UAB FIC is comprised of two separate divisions. The Gold Division is primarily for Seniors and Juniors. The Green Division is primarily for Sophomores and Freshmen. Players are selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pre-Registering for the UAB FIC is strongly encouraged. Registering before the Mini-Camp will give you the best chance of being assigned a position in the Fall League. Registration instructions are enclosed. (Last year all spots were filled a week before the mini-camp)
The UAB FIC consists of 16 teams with approximately 12 players on each roster. Each team plays 6 Games. All games (including any post season) are played in September and early October (see enclosed schedule).
UAB FIC Teams are coached by our Division I UAB baseball players. UAB coaching staff and players will also assist in instructing and umpiring.
A UAB FIC All-Star game will be held at the end of the season.
All mini-camps and games (including post season) will be played on UAB's beautiful Young Memorial Field.
The UAB FIC registration fee of $199 provides for game t-shirts, helmet usage, baseballs, umpires, instruction, use of facilities and secondary insurance coverage.
UAB coaches and players will provide detailed instruction in a mini-camp session in late August.
Refund Policy: Cancellations before Aug 17 will be refunded in full. Any cancellation received after August 17 will be charged a $30 processing fee.
UAB Fall Instructional Camp Rules
Players must act with class. No bad language. No mistreatment of equipment. No disrespect to coaches, other players, or support staff.
Players must hustle at all times. All games will have a 1 hour 45 minute time limit.
No tobacco products.
All players will start with a 1-1 count to allow for more at-bats.
Players (including catchers) must provide all of their own equipment.
An insurance card must be provided prior to the first game.
Games can be stopped for instruction.
Players must be present 30 minutes prior to game time for warm-up.
Warm-up will be conducted on the outfield lines.
If you have to miss a game, you must contact your coach one day in advance.
You may hit in the cages if you are not playing defense.
In accordance with Alabama High School rules, no more than 5 players from the same high school team will be assigned to the same team.
