Brief Description:

A half marathon and a full party! Scenic 13.1-mile run/walk on a flat and fast multi-loop and out-and-back course. Finish on the field at Raley Field (weather permitting).
A great training run for marathoners.
Walker-friendly time limit of 4 hours. Post-race party and fitness expo with free post-race massage for half-marathoners.
Entries limited to 4,000 individuals in the half and 400 two-person relay teams. No race day registration even if limits are not met.

Fees:

$55 on or before Feb. 15; $65 after until full. Relay $80/$90.

Wave Starts in 2009:

To reduce course crowding, we feature three wave starts this year.
Wave 1 (8:00 a.m.): Runners who expect to average under 9:10 minute miles (sub-2:00 finish time) and first leg of ALL relay teams.
Wave 2 (8:10 a.m.): Runners who expect to average 9:11-to-11 minutes a mile (2:01-to-2:23 finish times).
Wave 3 (8:20 a.m.): Runners, run/walkers and all walkers who expect to average 11 minute miles and above (finish times 2:24 and up).
You can switch waves if needed at packet pick-up.

Personalized Race Bibs:

Enter on or before February 15 to receive a race bib personalized with your first name--or another name of your choice. If you want something other than your first name, you can list it when you register. (Keep it clean and short-9 characters maximum with no symbols.)

Two-Person Relay:

New this year, two person relay for the half-marathon. Leg 1 is approximately 7.1 miles. Leg 2 is approximately 6 miles. Leg 1 of the two person relay will start with the first wave at 8:00 am.

No 5 km in 2009:

To accommodate a larger half-marathon field, we will NOT offer a 5 km run/walk in 2009.

Team Runnin’ for Rhett is a non-profit running/walking group raising money to fund scholarships for local college students majoring in special education.
They provide most race volunteers and train hundreds of race participants.
Rhett Seevers was born in 1997 with cerebral palsy and died in 2004. His story inspires those who feel defeated, uplifts those who feel down, and encourages people to move into life.

Fleet Feet Training Program:

Fleet Feet Sports Sacramento has a Shamrock'n Half Marathon training program. The program begins in early January and continues through race day. Space is very limited.

Shirt and Packet Pick-Up:

You can pick-up your number, timing chip, and shirt at these locations and times:
Fleet Feet Sports, 2311 J Street, Sacramento.
Thursday & Friday, March 12-13, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Race morning at Raley Field in West Sac. starting at 6:30 a.m.
Others may pick up your packet.

No Entry Refunds, Exchanges or Transfers:

Entry fees are not refundable for any reason--including injury. You may not exchange, sell, or transfer your entry to anyone else or to another race. Race numbers and timing chips must be worn only by the original entrant.

Online Entry Confirmation:

After you enter online, you will receive an automatic confirmation from Active.com. (Be sure and check your junk mail/SPAM folder. Confirmations often are directed to this file by your SPAM filter).

Course Details:

The course will be similar to 2008, though we are looking at changes to reduce crowding and equalize the relay leg distances.
The start is at Raley Field in West Sacramento, crosses the historic Tower Bridge for a Sacramento loop then returns to West Sacramento. Enjoy views of the skyline and the Sacramento River.
Eight fluid stations with water and fluid replacement.
Course open for 4 hours, or about 18-minutes-per-mile.

Half-Marathon Finishers Medal:

All half-marathon finishers receive a custom finish medal.

Age Division Awards:

Half-Marathon Individuals: Awards to the top three male and female half-marathon finishers in each age division: 19-under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54. 55-59, 60-64. 65-69, 70-over.
Half-Marathon Relay: Awards to the top three all male, all female, and coed (one m/f) teams.
"Gun Time," NOT "chip time" is used for all awards, per USA Track and Field rules.

Hotels and Lodging:

Currently, we do not offer a host hotel or special rates. We suggest you use internet search options (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) and search for properties in West Sacramento or downtown Sacramento.
