INGREDIENTS FOR CAMP
From the standpoint of stroke development, the focus of the camp is to improve the technique of campers in each of the four competitive strokes. The Daily Skills component to the camp, with a daily concentration on each of the competitive strokes, includes: stroke-of- the-day chalk talks, drill progressions and individual stroke feedback, work on starts and turns, and underwater skill and streamline development. During closing ceremonies, each camper will receive individualized written feedback on technique improvement.
The Training component will involve daily workouts that will incorporate all areas of conditioning such as aerobic, anaerobic, speed training and race simulation. Each of these sessions will be structured and modified toward the capability and experience of the individual camper.
In addition to in-water sessions, campers will be exposed to a wide range of both on-deck and classroom presentations on subjects important to the full development of the competitive swimmer: energy systems and manipulation, competitive nutrition, mental approach and preparation, and much more.
Note: Though Husker Swim Camps prides itself on tailoring drill progressions and training to a broad range of abilities and experience levels, it is expected that each camper have competitive experience in each of the four competitive strokes and arrive at camp in good condition.
Check-In & Conclusion of Camp
For all camps, campers will be expected to arrive Sunday between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. to check-in prior to a 4 p.m. Welcome Meeting and First Swim, followed by a pizza dinner. Each camp concludes Friday morning with breakfast, dorm check-out, final swim session, and closing ceremonies, which will finish at 11 a.m.
Personal Video Option
The camper will be video-taped underwater utilizing our state-of-theart digital video equipment. Filming will feature computer-digitized qualitative analysis and voiced-over commentary. A personalized DVD of the video analysis will be sent home to camper within three weeks following the conclusion of camp. Campers may choose to have more than one stroke filmed at the Per Stroke Fee or choose all four strokes at the All-Strokes Fee.
Feel free to contact us if you need assistance with transportation to and from Lincoln and Omaha airports and bus stations.
All campers will receive a Husker Swim Camp T-Shirt, a Lane 4 Training Snorkel, Camp Photo, and a thorough stroke analysis prepared by the Husker Swim Camp Staff.
