Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio
2012 Strides for Hope: 5K Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer
Sunday, Sept 9 at 9:30 a.m. (registration begins at 7:30 a.m.)
303 W. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43215
In 2009 there were 21,550 new cases of ovarian cancer and 14,600 deaths. The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio (OCAO) is an advocate for those affected by ovarian cancer.
Our Strides for Hope 5K Walk/Run is held every September to promote ovarian cancer education and awareness. Help us in our effort to prevent another woman from being impacted by this disease.
Our mission is to promote early detection of ovarian cancer with advocacy, education, awareness, and public outreach to improve outcomes and help save lives.
Our vision is to have the best volunteer workforce that embraces our core values and mission. We work with people touched by ovarian cancer to help communicate our mission. Our brand is based on integrity and credibility. Our plan is to grow by welcoming more volunteers for committee positions and organization events. Our fundraising success allows us to meet our strategic plan, vision and mission.

Honor a survivor or remember a loved one with a donation of $250 or more. This special donation includes printing the name on the Walk/Run t-shirts. Please let us know if this is "in honor of" or "in memory of" and the name as you wish it to appear. Deadline for names and donations is August 5, 2012.
Featured This Year at Our Walk/Run
OCAO Teal Store
Various items will be offered for suggested donations on Walk/Run day. 25% or more of the proceeds benefit the OCAO.
Children's Activity Tent (adult supervision required)
This special tent is open to all survivors to relax and chat with other survivors. There will be a survivor group photo at 8:30 a.m. at the steps of COSI facing Genoa Park.
Wall of Honor
This portable wall was created to honor survivors and to remember loved ones. If you would like to include a personal item, please bring it on Walk/Run day. Please limit the size to 8.5"X11" or smaller. All items become a permanent part of the display and cannot be returned.
Team T-shirt Contest
Design a t-shirt to show your team spirit! If you have a team t-shirt that your team will wear on the day of the Walk/Run, please provide one to us for display in the team t-shirt contest area. The t-shirt that receives the most votes (in terms of dollars raised) will be our winner and honored on our website. The t-shirts will not be returned and we ask that you please reserve the color teal for our survivors.
Purchase a pot of mums that will be displayed along the finish line with the name of your loved one displayed for a $10 donation. At the end of the Walk/Run, you can take your mums home with you.
Give your old gift cards new purpose! Bring them downtown on race day and give them to Mophe the unicycling clown. All proceeds will help the OCAO.

How You Can Make Strides for Hope
We encourage and appreciate your pledges/donations! Each and every dollar is important as we raise funds to increase awareness and promote education.
Corporate Matching Funds
Your company/organization may participate in this wonderful opportunity to increase your pledge and donation dollars. Contact your human resources department at work and ask them if you can apply for corporate matching funds.
Create a Non-Walk Fundraising Page
To create a fundraising page but not a walk team, please go to the OCAO website, click on the 'donate' button, select 'become a fundraiser' along the top of the screen, and follow the prompts to start your own general fundraising page. This will not be tied to the walk and will continue to stay open long after the walk is over.
