About This Activity

Cinco de Mayo Announcement

Due to the extreme flooding of Flint and with athlete safety as our utmost priority, we were forced with the difficult decision of delaying our Cinco de Mayo 10k/5k run on May 5, 2012. We have worked with the City of Flint and Swartz Creek Golf Course to reschedule the race for Friday May 11, 2012 at 6:30pm. We have chosen to host the event on Friday evening in an attempt to accommodate our athletes schedules by avoiding other run events taking place on Saturday as well as Mothers day on Sunday.

Event Details:

•Race begins at Swartz Creek Golf Course. Park in the parking lot at Tavern on the Green and walk to bridge across from tennis courts.

•10k runners will begin racing at 6:30pm, while 5k runners/walkers will begin at 6:35pm.

•Awards at 7:45pm.

•The new course map can be found at: http://maps.onemillionrevolutions.org/map.jsp?mapID=1997005

•Packet Pickup will be on Thursday May 10 from 4-7pm at Swartz Creek Golf Course/Tavern on the Green.

•For more details please visit www.tritofinish.com/events/1

After assessing the damage done by this local catastrophe we have decided to reopen registration with partial proceeds going to the Flint Tennis Club, a non-profit organization working to rehabilitate their facilities ruined by the flood. You may have seen the roof of their club house on our Facebook page, the rest of the building was below the water line and suffered significant water damage. It is our hope to give back to the Flint community which has now opened its arms twice to our event. We are incredibly grateful and hope this small gesture may help the Flint community move forward. Please invite your friends to the rescheduled event, enjoy a night of fun, and support the Flint community which is recovering from this unexpected phenomenon.

Due to these unforeseen incidents and the short time frame in which we are rescheduling the event, we will honor and implement our registration rollover policy. Thus three options are available to you:

1)Attend the race on Friday and enjoy extending your Cinco de Mayo festivities an additional week. Corona tastes better on a Friday night anyway!

2)Rollover your registration to one of our other 2 run races taking place in Birch Run and East Lansing.

3)Rollover your registration to next years Cinco de Mayo 5k/10k.

Thank you to all our racers for their overwhelming support. Your patience is a true testament to the endurance community. For those who are able to attend our Cinco de Mayo event on Friday we look forward to great evening run.
