Interval Training: How and Why to Do Them
Once you’ve gotten into a rhythm of running, it’s time to take it up a notch. Whether you’re running a 10-minute mile or 7-minute mile, the best way to improve your fitness and get faster is to incorporate interval training.
Intervals involve running faster than your usual pace. You’ll run at that pace for a predetermined time, then do a recovery jog, then repeat.
Interval runs improve the efficiency of the oxygen delivery system to your muscles. The result of that over time means improvements in speed, endurance and efficiency.
