Brief Description

Drop it, Dorchester! is a ten week weight-loss competition organized by the Dorchester County Family YMCA. The Challenge will begin on Monday, February 6, 2012 and end on Saturday, April 14, 2012. To enter, you must form a team of 2 or more and teams will compete to lose the highest percentage of weight.

Who can participate?

Adults over the age of 18 who are not pregnant and live in the area. If you have undergone surgical weight loss procedures in the last 6 months you can participate, but you cannot win prizes. Employees/officers of the Dorchester YMCA and their family members can participate, but again, not win prizes.

Pledges!

Each team member is encouraged to solicit pledges per pound weight lost. All donations are tax deductible and need to be received by the YMCA on the final weigh in date. There will be a prize awarded for the most donations received prior to 4/13/2012

Weigh-ins!

What would a weight loss challenge be without a few weigh-ins! Contestants must weigh-in at the Dorchester YMCA between February 6th-10th, 2012 during the KICK-OFF and again between April 9th-13th for the FINAL weigh in. The weigh-ins will be conducted by staff or a contest volunteer. Additionally, contestants must weigh-in for 7 out of the 10 weeks at an official weigh-in site.

What to wear for a weigh in

You must weigh-in at the start and end of the competition with similar clothing without shoes. You cannot weigh-in shirtless and you cannot wear jackets, sweatshirts, or hoodies (basically, nothing with large pockets!).

Prizes!

There are two categories of prizes 1) highest % lost by a team, and 2.) highest % lost by an individual.
