PIRATES ON THE RUN 2013 (5K AND 10K)(8:30 A.M.)

About This Activity

Scenic Courses run down Atlantic Avenue to a cross-country segment through the unpaved Egan';s Creek Greenway nature trail, about 1 mile for the 5K and 4 miles for the 10K. Be aware that there will be traffic on the course, except on the Greenway. (The 10K route will cross a road with traffic, out-and-back.)

Please walk on side-walks whenever possible.


5K/10K courses START AND FINISH at St. Peter';s Church, Atlantic Ave. at 9th Street. Members of the Fernandina Pirates Club in full costume. For course details and updates, please visit www.ameliaislandrunners.com.


  • FREE post-race pancake breakfast ($5 for non-registered guests.)
  • Technical T-Shirt for for first 500 pre-registered entrants. Note, technical T-shirts are unisex sizing.
  • Pirates!! Mardi Gras beads for finishers.
  • Costume Contest. Checkout website for details coming soon!

NO STROLLERS, dogs or headphones in the 5K/10K. Walkers are welcomed and encouraged to enter the 5K.


Race fees are $20 through January 23 and increase to $25 starting on January 24.

The race will be timed using ChampionChips. The chip must be worn on your shoe. Pre-registered entrants may use your own chip and deduct $2 from your race entry. If you do not wear a chip you will not be timed!


(No kids fun runs this year.)

Runners'; 5K/10K Awards: Overall, Masters and Grandmasters awards, male and female. Three-deep male and female age group awards; age 3-10, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.


Proceeds benefit: Amelia Island Runners'; youth scholarships and St. Peter';s Episcopal Church mission trips.

Event schedule and times

Race Start Time: 8:30 a.m.


Day of Race Registration: Race day registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at St. Peter';s Church and ends at 8:00 a.m. No registrations will be taken after 8:00 a.m.


Race Packet/Number Pick-up: All pre-registered runners can pick up packets at Current Running in Fernandina Beach on Friday, February 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Race packets can also be picked up at St. Peter';s on race day beginning at 7:00 a.m.
