5K Run - 0800 - Begins at Atlantic Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. Runners will enter Fort Clinch main entrance and run 1.5 miles to the turnaround point and back to Atlantic Recreation Center.
5K Walk Schedule and Start Time
5K Walk - 0810 - Begins at Atlantic Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. Walkers will enter Fort Clinch main entrance and walk 1.5 miles to the turnaround point and back to Atlantic Recreation Center.
This year, BOOTS ON THE GROUND – AMERICA REMEMBERS will debut along Atlantic Avenue. This is the first stop for the 1.5 Mile Traveling Memorial Of Over 7,000 Combat, Bunker, and Law Enforcement Boots With Pictures and Flags Honoring 9-11 Firefighters, Law Enforcement, and Post 9-11 Military Fallen Warriors.We have a full day of activities planned!!! Everything from a Parade of 300 motorcycles to Decorating Christmas Trees for Troops, Geocaching, Weapon's and Military Vehicle Displays! Raffle ticket sales and Silent Auction opens. Remembrance Recon and Kelly’s Quest begins handing out lists and pencils to participants. Prizes awarded for first three finishers of Remembrance Recon. (10:00 a.m. Awards Ceremony for 5k/10k runners)...(10:30 a.m. “Escort 2 Honor” Motorcycles depart staging area for parade down Atlantic Avenue)... (10:45 a.m. Parade of 300 Motorcycles and Military Vehicles each decorated with American/Patriotic flags arrive on Atlantic Avenue.)...We will be asking citizens to line the street and bring flags to join in honoring America’s Fallen Heroes.(11:30 a.m. All Tent Activities Stop in honor of Opening Ceremony for debut of “Boots On The Ground ~ America Remembers”. Guest speaker for fifteen minutes. Roll call of each Hero with family members present. Families will be called to stage as their Hero’s name is read and given a BOTG certificate of appreciation for their loved ones service and sacrifice.)... We'll take care of postage and address.• Contest for “BEST PATRIOTIC MOTORCYCLE” AND “MOST PATRIOTIC MALE AND FEMALE RIDER” • Come see the WEAPONS DISPLAY, get behind a machine gun and have your picture taken. Free camouflage face painting for kids. • “REMEMBRANCE RECON” – A list of 15 questions with answers found all along the boot route on Atlantic Avenue or within the tent areas at Atlantic Recreation Center. This is a great family or individual event! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. • “KELLY'S QUEST” - Geocaching sites and items with Travel Bugs are located in the Atlantic Avenue area. Coordinates and clues will be posted on MothersofAMF.com website the evening of October 18th. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game using a GPS to hide and seek containers or items with other participants in the activity.
