Join the 2013 Falmouth Road Race. More than 12,000 runners will gather at the starting line in Woods Hole for a 7 mile run with a finish at the beach in Falmouth Heights. This famous race is always a quick sell-out and attracts many of the world's elite, though the essence of the event remains a fun run. Back-of-the-pack joggers share the road with the best, forming a tapestry of colors which is woven into the fabric of summer in Cape Cod, like 4th of July, and fireworks.
The MMRF will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up, to the incredible moment you cross the finish line. Running on our team promises to be one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of your life.
MMRF is accepting registration now for consideration to this team. Athletes must pledge to raise a minimum of $1000 for the MMRF. By filling out this registration, you are expressing your interest in joining the team and your willingness to raise the fundraising minimum.
Team members receive free virtual training and other training support to get you ready for race day. Free fundraising tools, including a personalized online fundraising page, downloadable marketing materials, and full time fundraising support are provided to help you reach your fundraising goals. Weekly newsletters, which provide important team news, training and fundraising tips and lots of inspiration, help our runners get to the starting line meeting all of their goals: fundraising, training and personal. Team members also receive race day team jerseys, marathon support team t-shirts, and other runner amenities.
In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as transportation and hotel accommodations.
About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised are budgeted for cancer research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
Why Run for our Team?
Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma, but we also have many team members who are running or walking because they want to support a great cause. They want to support an organization that is using their money responsibly and is making breakthroughs in medical research.
