Students completing 7th, 8th and 9th grade are invited to apply to become Super Camp CITs : a unique 4-week program offering special leadership training opportunities specifically geared towards middle school students, along with the same super field trips enjoyed by the Siberian Campers. CITs will serve as mentors to younger campers and will have opportunities to plan and participate in service projects throughout the summer. Students completing 10th grade, or who have completed the Merritt Summer Camp’s CIT program in 2014 may apply to become Junior Counselors, where they will provide hands-on support to Merritt Camp Counselors, gaining valuable real-world experience. Junior Counselors are hired for the full summer and will be paid a stipend. Due to the nature of Merritt’s CIT and Junior Counselor program, students may include completion of this program as an internship or volunteer experience when applying to college, future jobs or National Honor Society. We ask that CIts and Junior Counselors make the commitment to participate in the full session (4 weeks for CITs and 10 weeks for Junior Counselors), but some accommodations may be made. Application Process: All applicants to the CIT and Junior Counselor program should complete the appropriate CIT or Junior Counselor program application. Applications can be downloaded from Merritt Academy’s website (www.MerrittAcademy.org) or simply request one from the Camp Director. Completed applications should be mailed to Camp Director c/o Merritt Academy, 9211 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, VA 22031, dropped off at the Merritt Academy front desk or emailed to Camp@merrittacademy.org. Interviews will be scheduled after applications are received. Spaces in each program are limited and candidates will be considered on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to applications received before the early decision deadline. The deadline for early decision is April 30th, 2015.
