Barber Beast on the Bay is an extreme obstacle course challenge that will take place along Lake Erie at Presque Isle State Park. The total course length will be a grueling 12+ miles, but individuals of all fitness levels are encouraged to participate as there will be turn-around points marking 4, 6, and 8-mile routes.
The obstacle course is being designed by a U.S. Navy SEAL who has some hardcore challenges in store for competitors. So sign up and prepare to scale walls, traverse bodies of mucky water and race through lots and lots of sand!
Cold beer, refreshments and live music await you at the finish line... so run fast!
All proceeds from this event benefit the Barber National Institute, an organization committed to "Making dreams come true" for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Registration discounts are offered to those who want to help raise funds for this worthy cause. $50 discount for a $300 fundraising commitment or a free registration for a $550 fundraising commitment.
Take the challenge...
Many will compete, but few will be able to claim that they BEAT THE BEAST!
Barber Beast on the Bay will also offer an adapted course for adults with disabilities.
The 1.5 mile course loop will begin and end in the area of Beach 11 at Presque Isle State Park and will accommodate ambulatory participants as well as those in a wheelchair or power chair. Six obstacles will be spaced throughout the course and incorporate a variety of challenges that are being developed by a team of physical therapists and educators from the Barber National Institute, fitness trainers and representatives from the disabilities community.
