Each of the camps will also include activities addressing the identification and utilization of individual strengths and mindfulness based practice. Mindfulness refers to the ability to pay attention and concentrate on present moment experiences, non-judgmentally. For campers, practicing mindfulness will help develop resilience, coping skills, and interpersonal skills like self-confidence, empathy, compassion, and cooperation. The Department of Defense is currently using mindfulness training with soldiers and veterans to promote well-being, reduce stress, and increase attention/focus.

CSU’s Rocky Mountain Adventure Camp (RMAC) for military youth at Pingree Park. Nestled in a beautiful, secluded mountain valley at an elevation of 9,000 feet (2750m) and 50 miles west of Fort Collins is Colorado State University Pingree Park: mountain campus and conference center. www.colostate.edu/features/pingree-park.aspx • Open to youth ages 14-18 (must be these ages during camp) who have a military parent/guardian in any branch of the US Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Air Guard and Reserves. • One camp per person Bus pick up locations in Colorado Springs, Aurora and Fort Collins - times to be determined • World class hike to a 1940’s era U.S. Air Force B-17 crash site at high altitude • 1,200-acre campus with modern facilities • Identify high altitude native plants and animals • Challenge Ropes Course is awesome and designed to enhance self-responsibility, decision making, resiliency, cooperation, citizenship and problem solving White water rafting on the last day in one of Colorado's amazing rivers.
