From literary analysis to shaping and supporting a strong thesis, this interactive workshop explores the writing process in a fun and engaging environment. Trained instructors will assess each student’s level of ability; students will receive our trademark manuals as well as other valuable handouts to use throughout the school year. New in 2013: Separate classes catering to both middle school and high school students. We’ve adapted our curriculum to meet their needs, delivering grade appropriate lessons and serving more grades. Monday through Thursday from 10am to 1pm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Research has shown that the ability to recognize words in print is a significant factor in the beginning stages of reading. Students will work one-on-one with a reading tutor to develop word recognition strategies in a fun and engaging environment. Students will learn phonics as well as the most common sight words in the English language to boost reading abilities and self-confidence. Along with systematic phonics and sight word instruction, students will also learn reading comprehension strategies to improve their ability to understand the concepts of what they read. At the end of the twelve sessions, parents will receive a formal summary and assessment of the student’s strengths and weaknesses in reading. 12 forty-five minute sessions Experienced and friendly reading tutors Flexible scheduling Designed for students in grades K-5 Tuition: $575

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This workshop is designed to introduce students to the major concepts that are practiced in Geometry–a very different kind of math than they may be used to. The emphasis for the workshop will be on learning vocabulary, understanding and writing proofs and executing basic constructions, which will be explored through the following topics: coordinate/plane Geometry, triangles and quadrilaterals. 8/12 – 8/16 Monday through Friday 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Tuition is $400 All materials included. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This workshop is designed for students going into Algebra 2 (from Geometry) and is a comprehensive review of key concepts of basic algebra that will ease the transition from Geometry into Algebra 2. Topics include algebraic properties, solving for variables, exponents and roots, absolute value, solving inequalities, graphing linear equations, solving systems of equations, simplifying and factoring polynomials and quadratic functions. 8/19 – 8/23 Monday through Friday 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuition is $250 All materials included. Minimum enrollment is six students, maximum per section is 20.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Biology can be very difficult for some students. This six-day intensive workshop will introduce them to the major topics covered in the course, teach them how to read a Biology text, take effective notes and prepare for exams. Students entering AP or IB level Biology will find this to be a good review. Topics include: biochemistry, cellular biology, classification, genetics and evolution, ecology and body systems. 8/12 – 8/16 Monday through Friday 3:00 to 5:30 PM Tuition is $300 All materials included.
