The 50/20 is the Ultimate way to give back to the Boy Scouts of America, and challenge yourself. The event offers opportunities to run or hike 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, or 50 miles. Much of the route is on the actual Pony Express Trail. Hiking / running on improved roads... mostly dirt. The event starts at 6pm and runs through the night under the canopy of the full moon. Part of the proceeds of this event will go to support Boy Scout activities in the Pony Express Scouting District.
The run/hike is "supported," meaning that there are various Support Stops along the way that provide food, drink, first aid, encouragement, and bail-out options. Aid stations are provided by the Boy Scout Troops in the area. They will be camping along the trail at various intervals and providing a smorgishborg of food and drink. Each participant will receive a shirt for participation. Each person who finishes at least 20-miles will receive the Pony Express 50/20 Patch. Each participant who finishes the full 50-miles in less than 20-hours will receive a race commemorative belt buckle.
