What's Included

Let's explore the Triangle with former Duke School Spanish teacher Philip Hollingsworth while we learn about Spanish, the Latino culture and food. Your child will have input on what they would like to explore, including hiking local trails, visiting the pool or perhaps a museum. Throughout the week, we'll be creating a book of activities with words learned on a daily basis. At the end of the week we'll explore Mexican cuisine by visiting some nearby Latino markets and eating at a restaurant. Ven y explora conmingo! Come explore with me! Director: Philip Hollingsworth

About This Organizer

Duke School is a nonprofit independent project-based preschool-eighth grade school in Durham, North Carolina. Duke School is committed to engaging in the continuing public dialogue to improve education for all young people, and was one of only a handful of schools around the country to be featured in the 1999 HBO production Goodnight Moon and Other Sleepytime Tales. It was also featured in the PBS series "Raising Young Children" and was chosen by the state of North Carolina as a model preschool. Duke School serves as a leading educational institution both within the "Triangle" and wider educational community; its teaching methods continue as a model for both public and other independent schools, and its unique child-centered, project-based integrated curriculum continues to adapt to serve a variety of learning styles.
