Event Description

Chasing 3 Race Productions LLC is honored to announce the 16th annual TriSports.com Desert Classic Duathlon! McDowell Mountain Regional Park will once again play host to this prestigious event that has attracted professional athletes such as IronMan 70.3 world champions Samantha McGlone & Joanna Zeiger, Olympic Triathlon Gold Medalist Simon Whitfield, Olympic Cycling Gold Medalist Kristin Armstrong & Xterra world champion Michael Tobin.

This event offers both road and off-road options for participants. Chose your poison, and come tear it up!

Course Description

The venue, transition and parking will all be located at the competitive track parking lot at McDowell Mountain Regional Park.

FIRST RUN LEG:

The start will be on-road and transition to the trail. This fast, fun and scenic course will have you wishing for more.

ROAD BIKE

This is the same course used in the past, where you head out the park, north to Rio Verde, back to the park and loop the roads in the park then home to transition. Its roll-y, and a great opportunity for the cyclist to put some distance on the runners.

MOUNTAIN BIKE

For the OFF-ROAD Duathletes, this course is a treat. McDowell Mountain Regional Park is a mecca for mountain bikers. Over 60% of the visitors to this park are mountain biking the trails within the park Well pick a choice 15-mile route for the off-road folks (or it might be a little longer)

SECOND RUN LEG:

After tearing up the bike, the final run leg will be almost all trails. This course will leave an impression, guaranteed!

Aid Stations

The venue will have plenty of water and hydration drink. There will be NO water on the first run leg due to the limited distance. We will have a water/hydration station at the entrance and exit of the transition, as well as two on the final run leg loop.

Please be very cautious when using gels, gus and blocks. While the occasional accidental dropping of a gel packet may be forgiven, we want to try and eliminate the impact to old mother nature, Maricopa County Parks and especially the C3 staff & volunteers.

Awards

Awards will be given to Overall winners and Age Group finishers in 5-year age increments, three deep; beginning with the youth and Juniors listed above then the 20-24 group up to, and ending with 60+. Every finisher will receive a commemorative award.
