The Amerind Museum in partnership with Bisbee Vogue Inc. present the 4th annual Texas Canyon Trail Run. Here’s your chance to intimately experience this awe inspiring region that is normally closed to the public. Run or walk the scenic 5K or 10K courses in beautiful Texas Canyon.
Proceeds support Amerind’s mission of fostering knowledge and understanding of Native Peoples of the Americas through research, education, and conservation.
Event details and schedule
On behalf of the Amerind Museum, we want to thank you for being part of the Amerind Texas Canyon 10K Trail Run and the inaugural 5K run on April 1st.
We believe you will experience trail running at its best on courses that take you through spectacular Texas Canyon, an area that will only be open to the public on race day. Please remember, no baby joggers, no dogs, no headsets, in compliance with our insurance requirements---- you will really want to be “in the moment” anyway. We have three water stations on the course. If you expect to need more than that on the course, you may want to carry your own additional water. Also, please comply with our no smoking policy.
In a culture of running, it is no surprise that many Native communities have ways of encouraging runners along their path. Among the O'odham of Arizona and Sonora, singing is important at all community events and celebrations. At the Texas Canyon Trail Run, the Amerind is honored to welcome the No:lic Traditional Singers and Dancers. They are from the community of No:lic on the Tohono O'odham Nation. Most of their singers belong to a multi-generational family that values their ancient singing and dance traditions. On April 1, they will sing traditional O'odham songs in their Native language to encourage the trail runners along their way.
POST RACE ACTIVITIES please stick around for the Awards Ceremony at 11:00 and grab a bite to eat from the Wicked Burgers food truck.
Your Bib# also includes entry into the Amerind Museum and Art Gallery
The Race starts at 9:00. We have onsite parking and Race Day registration is available. The packet pickup starts at 7:30 a.m.
