Racing to Save Lives
I am currently training to participate in the Austin Freescale Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this marathon in honour of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Despite the fact that we at Team in Training are pushing our bodies harder and further than most people, people with Leukemia and other blood cancers have a harder fight, every day. My marathon is nothing compared to what they endure. Over 750,000 people are living with a blood cancer today. These people are mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, and lovers.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help us raise public awareness, support research and patients, and most importantly, find a cure for leukemia. All donations are welcome and appreciated, no matter the size. If there is someone special that you are donating in honour of, please let me know, and I will add them to my list of Honoured Heroes.
This is one of my honoured heroes, Tre Smith. He just turned ten years old, and is currently undergoing treatments for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia which he will hopefully finish in November. His mother Karen told me that even though the doctors are nice people, she would thank God every day when she doesn't have to see them again.
Tre and I at White Rock Lake after a nice run..
If you'd like to see what exactly it is that I'm up to, I'm maintaining a training blog here. Thanks so much for your support!
