Kimberly Collier's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team in Training home page. I am participating in the Azalea Festival Triathlon on April 1, 2006. I will be running, biking, and swimming to honor Sophie Katherine Brumbaugh Partin. On January 22, 2005, at age of two and a half, Sophie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). Sophie had been experiencing unusual bruising for about a week and seemed tired and pale. When the bruising was accompanied by little dots (tiny bruises called petechiae) her parents took her to the doctor. That was the day that their lives were forever changed. Sophie immediately went into the hospital for a platelet transfusion. Over the following weekend she had surgery to insert a chest catheter, a spinal tap, chemo treatments, and a red blood cell transfusion. She will be undergoing treatment through the end of May 2007. Sophie is a very happy little girl and she is fighting this disease with the help of her loving parents and her big sister Elisabeth.

I am training to participate in this endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this triathlon in honor of Sophie and all the other individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. No donation is too big or too small, they are all greatly appreciated.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
Thanks for your support! KC
