In Loving Memory of My Mom & Best Friend - Ann Johnson
On October 19, 2008, I will be running in the Nike Women's Marathon, A Race to Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society , in San Francisco, again!!
I will be running in Memory of My Mom & Best Friend, Ann Johnson, who passed away 4 and a half years ago.
This campaign is a partnership between Nike and the Society. Our goal is to raise money to cure blood cancers: Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.
The Society has been working hard for more than 50 years, and Society-funded research has contributed to major advances in the treatment of cancer. But more progress is needed to find cures. Someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer every 5 minutes; every 10 minutes someone dies. In fact, despite the many breakthroughs, leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under 20.
That's why I'm asking all of my friends and family to sponsor me, to support the Society's lifesaving cancer research and patient services programs. Your support will help improve the lives of more than 747,000 Americans who are battling blood cancers.
The knowledge that you share my commitment to this important cause will keep me going and you will be in my mind and definitely my heart, as I cross the finish line.
26 miles is a long way to go, especially in San Francisco, but the cause is so worth it!!
It doesn't matter how much you donate....every little bit helps!
Thank you so much!
I hope you'll visit my Web site often and check on my progress. Thanks for your support!
