My name is Zac Holford (aka Zac Attack.) Starting May 1, 2008 I will ride my bicycle 4,167 miles from sea to shining sea in effort to raise money and awareness for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. My mission is to raise $15,000 for the Society by educating whomever I encounter, holding several meetings to explain my cause, and networking via my trip website on a national level.
The trip will last 80 days and I will travel through these twelve states: SC, GA, NC, TN, KY, MO, KS, CO, WY, MT, ID, and finally OR. I will start in South Carolina and end in Oregon. Averaging 60 miles a day, I will ride through heat, rain, traffic, and over mountain passes at thousands of feet of elevation. I will live off of my bicycle including cooking, cleaning, sleeping with approximately thirty five pounds of gear. This ultra-light method of bicycle touring will help raise the most amount of money by spending the least. This trip will be difficult and challenging but not as challenging as dealing with cancer. During my ride over twenty-three thousand North Americans will be newly diagnosed with a blood related cancer. Nearly twelve thousand (or over half) of those people will die.
Information about my whereabouts, encounters, and difficulties will be available for all to see. I am optimistic about the support I will be able to achieve for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Many people have already pledged to help me along the way, whether financially, with critical route information, or by simply allowing me to pitch a tent on their lawn for the evening. I’ll do the dirty work but please help Zac attack cancer!

A) 1 Cent/Mile Plan- You can support the Society with one cent per mile traveled by me. No need to get out your calculator, I’ll do the math for you. This is a $42 donation.
B).5 Cent/Mile Plan- This donation plan is $21 donation.
C).1 Cent/Mile Plan- $4.20
2) You are certainly welcome to donate any amount you would like, but here are some facts that will put your donation into perspective.- A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
- A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
- A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
- A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
