Racing to fight obesity in youth
Hello everyone! I am Tyler Shapiro, 18 years old and a college premed student at Boston University. I will be running the Boston Marathon 2012 with my mom, Gayle Shimokaji to help fight obesity in youths! My fundraising goal to run Boston will help young Americans! Please help me in any way you can. Anything is greatly appreciated! It will be my first MARATHON! Cheers, Tyler

ONE-ON-ONE, WALK & RUN and the RUN A MILE DAYs are youth fitness programs of the American Running Association (ARA), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. The American Medical Athletic Association (AMAA) joined forces with ARA after a close affiliation since the early 70s. Both AMAA and ARA work together on the Youth Fitness efforts. ARA was founded in June 1968 as the National Jogging Association by the-then Surgeon General of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Richard Bohannon. The mission of the American Running Association is to promote running and a healthy lifestyle and to increase the physical activity levels of all Americans from youths to adults.
