As you know, 2006 was a very difficult year for me and my family. In early February 2006, at the age of 37, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was 9 months filled with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation...a bald head, nauseous stomach, and aching bones. But now I'm healthy, cancer-free and READY to celebrate by riding in this 220 mile bike ride from beautiful Hershey PA to Times Square NY. My ride will be dedicated to all survivors - a celebration of life, hope, and good health.

I am excited and proud to participate in this event as a member of the Young Survival Coalition's Northern New Jersey Chapter. Last year, I completed the ride while in the middle of radiation treatments, it was tough but I met some wonderful people and rode with 3 dear friends. I know this year will be another great experience as we cycle for 4 days and raise money for the YSC!

The Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the only international, non-profit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the concerns and issues that are unique to young women and breast cancer. Through action, advocacy and awareness, the YSC seeks to educate the medical, research, breast cancer and legislative communities and to persuade them to address breast cancer in women 40 and under. The YSC also serves as a point of contact for young women living with breast cancer.

I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling breast cancer as well as the survivors who have become my friends over the past few years through YSC, Pathways, and TNT. These people are the real heroes, dedicated to making a difference every day.
