An estimated 2 million people have died from AIDS in Africa. The epidemic has left behind some 12 million orphaned African children
The HIV/AIDS epidemic is so prevalent in Africa that it accounts for 60% of the world’s population of those living with HIV/AIDS. With more than half of these cases being women. Children are the most effected because 85% of all children in the world living with HIV/AIDS reside in Africa. These numbers continue to grow due to lack of resources and education.
Jason Hair-Wynn and Kimberly Andrade who are currently working as professionals in Southeastern Massachusetts in the HIV/AIDS sector are partnering with Village Volunteers, an international 501c3 Non-profit organization. This organization works in partnership with rural villages and capacity-building programs to support the development of sustainable solutions for community survival, education, and growth in Africa and other sections of the world.
Village Volunteers have asked Jason and Kim to develop a curriculum to be used in Ghana, Africa for the purpose of educating youth about their body in relation to HIV/AIDS, health, and sanitation. This curriculum in which they are currently developing will be implemented throughout a four week duration in August of 2008 and if successful will be used throughout other regions in Africa such as Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa.
Jason and Kim are seeking individual and community help with raising funds and donation of materials in order for this program to be a success.
*All proceeds from our fundraising as a result of your contributions will be applied toward the cost of Program Fees, Supplies, Food, Room and Board in village placement, Cargo for donated supplies for the children as well, you will be directly supporting programs of awareness and education to stop the spread of this deadly virus.
Through working together we can continue to build the future of a child, a family, a country, a continent, and eventually the world. Please support the journey of healing with compassion, crying with strength, educating with minds and loving with our hearts.
Together we can Spread the Truth and Not the Virus.
