Ethiopian Foundation (WEF) exists to empower impoverished families with children back in Ethiopia. Wegene gives the tools and skills necessary for self-sufficiency and productivity to indigent families with children. WEF is a grass roots community based empowering foundation designed to sponsor and support these families in their own home settings. It is unique in that it supports these indigent families via the local people who are neighbors, friends and part of the community. Children are given the tools and support to attend schools and they get involved in creative and nurturing activities. WEF greatly believe that education is the key tool of empowerment that would definitely break the cycle of poverty for each of the families that WEF supports. Families are supported in their basic drive for survival by providing tools and resources to access decent homes, schools, and productive work that sustain the family. Wegene's concept is simple, the resources are deliverable, and the overhead cost is near to nothing as almost every body involved is contributing their money, time, and contacts in kind to this noble work.
