| In August 2007 I began to loose my vision. Frustrated and scared I searched for answers that could not be found. In October I was provided the opportunity to enter into the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton, Mass. It was there I was given new hope. I learned that being blind is not a death sentence, just a different way of doing things. At the Carroll Center I learned all I needed to know to live a productive life from cooking, to Braille, mobility, fencing, computers, labeling clothing, and home mechanics. What I valued most was that I learned how valuable I am and that I can achieve all I desire in life. The staff was compassionate and supportive. By living in the residential setting I learned so much socially from the other blind students. I feel after leaving the Carroll Center I am a better person that I ever was and am committed to giving back so others can have the opportunities that I was given. Your support for this exceptional cause would be greatly appreciated. Please help bring new light to someone else that struggles with blindness.
