| Paul Tungol, a two year old, is a young boy in the Philippines who has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The country is very poor and the average annual salary there is approximately $3200 US Dollars. Leukemia is usually 100% fatal there because of the lack of funds. We have assisted the family for the past year and Paul has had his ups and downs. He is going to need a Bone Marrow Transplant for a chance to survive. 4 rounds of Chemo have been done and his mother's most recent letter to me is as follows:
Dear Ma'am Dawn,
Hello to you and to your family circle. Just an update on Paul's condition right now. We just came from the hospital again for blood transfusion since his rbc starts to go down again. His intrathecal chemo part of his maintenance did not start because of his blood counts it is fluctuating and I am so sad that nothing happens. The doctor recomends us for BMT but we do not have 2 to 6 million pesos I am hoping that during his maintenance he can make it. I know God still there helping Paul.
We are scheduled again end of the month for the immunophenotyping at St. Lukes Hospital to know if there are still blast. I will update you again this end of the month the condition of Paul

At this point, they will need to raise somewhere between $127,000 - $170,000 US Dollars to pay for the Bone Marrow Transplant.
