| Arr, me maties... This will be my fourth triathlon (assuming the third one, in June, goes okay) and my first Tri for the Cure.
As you probably know if you found your way to this page, in 2000 I was diagnosed with breast cancer (or, as I prefer to call it, titty cancer... because doesn't that sound like more fun?). Before and during my treatment, I took a dim view of much of The Pink Ribbon cult, and quite frankly, I still do.
But a colleague and fellow survivor got me into the Danskin triathlons, and I was amazed at how much I got out of my first one. Free water bottles, a feeling of accomplishment and, most of all, revenge on my evil gym teacher Mr. Bianchi, who made my un-jock childhood hell.
But I digress... Tri for the Cure offered me the option of setting up a fundraising page when I registered for their Denver event.
I don't want to beg for money, even though it's for a good cause. If I really want your money, I'll demand it at saberpoint. Alas, that was not one of the options in the registration process, so I've set up this page.
I know I have a great circle of support around me, and I hope you'll send good wishes and positive thoughts my way when I Tri for the Cure in August. If you'd also like to make a donation through Team Pastry Pirate, however, here's your chance.
And, in the spirit of NASCAR, I will write the name of anyone who makes a donation somewhere on Cerdic, my brawny Saxon warrior of a bike.
