Hello,
My name is Jerry Richert. I am a firefighter and public safety diver for the Franklin Township Fire Department in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am raising money for the International Association of Dive Rescue Specialists (IADRS). In 1997, I was walking through the most difficult time in my life when I met a fellow firefighter named Paul Jolliff. Paul took time out of his own life to stand by me until I was able to stand on my own. I believe God sent Paul to save my life and my marriage and I am blessed to be a father of 5 today. An avid runner, Paul was working on completing a marathon in all 50 states. He also was competing in triathlons with the Great Floridian iron distance being his last. Paul's life was cut short when he died in a dive training accident while on duty with his fire department. One of Paul's dreams was to compete in a sanctioned Ironman event. In October of 2007, I competed in and completed the Great Floridian triathlon in Paul's honor. I now want to complete his journey for him by competing in the sanctioned Ironman event in Louisville Kentucky in August 2008 while raising money to provide education to public safety divers on safe diving practices.
