| Dearest Friends and Family,
Over a year ago, one of my favorite professors from law school, Professor Steve Gey, was diagnosed with ALS. Last March, over 40 “Team Gey” members, made up of current and former students, friends, and colleagues of Professor Gey, competed in the Red Hills Triathlon, raised over $40,000, and spread the word about this terrible disease. This year, I will join 75 Team Gey members in the fight against ALS by competing in the Red Hills Triathlon on April 5, 2008 and committing to raise at least $1000 in donations to fund ALS research.
Most people know ALS as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This fatal illness affects thousands of people and while those afflicted lose all muscle control, their minds are left intact. Patients literally become prisoners in their own bodies. Professor Gey has inspired countless students and he is the driving force behind Team Gey. While there is currently no treatment or cure for ALS, we are going to “Tri For Gey” because, as he has stated, “maybe we’ll get a last-minute cure after all!”
