Kerry Morsek's Team In Training Page
Hello team!
As you probably know by now, I am training to participate in the Philadelphia Triathlon as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
Update: The training continues to feel good. During a work-related trip to the Catskills this weekend, I had a fantastic 90 minute run up and down the rocky trails ajacent to Frost Valley. It took so much out of me that I wasn't much up for contra dancing that night, but it was worth it! My bike has been having some issues lately, mainly with the brakes, but the fixed-and-ready-to-fly volpe will be out of the shop any day now. And swimming! Despite the semi-ridiculous amounts of chlorine that my local YMCA likes to dump in their pool, I've been logging some serious laps, and I'm proud to announce the brand-new and (for me) super-fast time of 38 minutes as my current record for the 1500 meters. Pretty exciting, if you can remember back to "this is how you put your head in the water when swimming freestyle" lessons in January. I'm really going to be able to do this!
The goal of this whole endurance endeavor is to raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Every five minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Team In Training funds go toward providing financial, emotional, and medical support for cancer patients and their families.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. You can do so on-line by using the “Make a Contribution” area in the upper left of this web page and clicking on the “DONATE NOW” button.
Your donations will be put to great use:
$1,000 Will help The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund a researcher to find a cure.
$500 Will provide patient aid to a person with leukemia or a related cancer for a year.
$100 Will provide a patient with transportation cost associated with traveling to their cancer center.
$75 Will provide bone morrow typing for a family member of a patient with leukemia.
$50 Will register one person to be a bone marrow donor.
$25 Will pay for the cost of a patient's chemotherapy drug prescription co-pay.
...And any donation will help continue the Society's work.
Thanks for your support!
