October 19th- Leaving for San Francisco in less than 24 hours! It's kind of surreal- I can't believe that I am actually going to be running a marathon in just a few days! The race is Sunday at 7 am PST so please keep me in your prayers.
It's a long run, but it's worth the pain for so many reasons. I have found out personally what the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society can do for patients and their families. They need your support to continue their mission of finding a cure for blood cancers and improving the lives of patients and their families.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! I'll talk to y'all after the finish!

August 16th Medical Update- in an ironic turn of events, my father was diagnosed today with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. We spent the majority of the day at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, meeting with doctors, discussing treatment options and having more tests done. He will be starting chemotherapy soon.
I never dreamed that cancer could hit so close to home... or that my family would be ones to seek help from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I just thought that I would be helping other people by my participation in Team In Training.
Now, more than ever, do I understand the importance of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I feel a lot better knowing that there is an organization like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society whose mission is to find a cure and help patients and families face cancer.
*************************************************************************************** I am training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon on October 22nd, 2006, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins & non-hogdkins lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and specifically in memory of my husband's grandfather, Clarence Hensley , who lost his battle with leukemia in 1987 and in honor of my father, Randy Wear who was just diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. No 5am workout will ever be as difficult as what people go through on a daily basis who are fighting cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

August 1- Did my longest run ever so far- 10 miles. It's getting easier to go longer distances. The marathon really feels like it is within reach now!
August 15- I ran 12 miles two Saturdays ago and this past Saturday we backed down to 10. Ten miles seemed so much easier this time! I am still working on my fundraising and I really need you help- I am far from my goal and appreciate you help. Thanks!
August 16- see medical update above
