2005, Keep Hope Alive
Many more miles to ride, and many more lives to save
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
The 2005 Saint Anthony's Triathlon was very successful both athletically and in terms of my fundraising goals. The speaker at our pasta party was a leukemia survivor and also did the race. Brandie’s story was moving, and I was proud to be out there racing with her. I'm always thrilled knowing that people who have survived these devastating blood cancers are out there doing the same thing I’m doing.
Unfortunately not every person’s battle with leukemia has a happy ending. I will be doing the Westchester Triathlon and El Tour de Tucson in memory of Meryl, a 16 year old girl who passed away in April from complications related to her treatment for AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia).
Since starting my involvement with Team in Training in 2003, I’ve met numerous people who are survivors of these devastating blood cancers. Their stories of courage and hope remind me of all the good things that have come out of the efforts and outstanding work done by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. However each time I meet people who have lost someone to these diseases I realize the importance in continuing to search for cures, and improved treatments.
The need for funding of research and support for leukemia patients never ends, and that's why I'm continuing with my efforts in 2005 on behalf of Team in Training. I want to meet more people like Brandie who have gotten back to living a more normal life after their treatment for leukemia. However for every Brandie out there, there is also a family like Meryl’s who are dealing with the loss of child and a sibling.
Please assist me in my efforts to find a cure, by making a contribution to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It’s easy to do, just click on the donation link, and fill in the form.
Thank you!
