Cancer is bad and running is great!
Donate here!
Welcome to the wonderful world of donating to good causes online!
In a grand and slightly insane gesture, I am now running a full marathon instead of a half. I have no explanation for this – but I found myself breezing through a 12 mile run and came to the realization that your legs kind of go numb at that point anyway, so there is no good reason not to keep going. And on top of that, the goal of all of this is to raise money for the charity, and maybe 26 miles will impress people enough to give more.
Also, I want to thank all of you who are supporting me, be it those who donate, those who talk their friends into donating (Michael), those who keep getting up at 6:30 am to run with me (Jojo), those who are willing to fly to San Diego with me and drink Mai Tais on the beach while I run (Natalie, your sacrifices are deep and selfless), and those who listen to me talk about my sore and achy legs each and every business day between the hours of 9 and 5 (Seattle Opera) – all of your support is very much appreciated.
However, please notice that the little running man icon up at the top of the page is still not to the goal, so if you haven't already, please donate to the cause. It is a good one - cancer touches everyone and it is tragic and evil, and the best defense we have is research. Since only some of us passed science in 8th grade, the rest of us have to come up with other ways to support the cause - like donations!
So you know, 75% of all funds raised by Team in Training (and me) go directly to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which specifically works to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from doing any more harm. The rest of the funds go to supporting this organization that not only convinces fools like me to do insane physical feats, but it really supports the people in the community who need help the most - people fighting cancer.
In an effort to avoid syrupy sentimentality, I’ll just say this – if you love me and hate cancer, donate here. Thank you, thank you!
