Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am participanting as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of a dear family friend, Dr. Botros Rizk, who is also my Mom's Boss. Dr. Rizk was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma in March of 2006. After going through several rounds of chemotherapy and an experimental treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, he is cancer free and doing well. During this time, Dr. Rizk did not abandon his patients or his practice even though his treatment involved weekly trips to Houston from Mobile, Al. In recognition of his fight with this disease and his extraordinary dedication to his work, he is an inspiration for myself and others and as such, I am dedicating my efforts for this marathon in his honor. While I am thankful for his recovery, I realize that many thousands of people are not as fortunate as he and it is for these people that continued cancer research must be funded. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
