I FINISHED!!

Please donate by June 2nd if at all possible, thankyou!!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Hi from Frances

I finished my walking marathon, in 7 hours and 40 minutes

This was my marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.

On June 21 I walked 42KM on Alaskan trails, Luckily as it was Summer Solstice, I had all the daylight I needed to complete the walk in one day.

SEE BlOG at the bottom of this page, including maps of training routes

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to provide patient services and research for people who have leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma. We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training

My Training BLOG started March 5th :

I have beeen training now since mid-January. This last Sunday i managed 19km without resorting to a nap after , well just a little one.

I walk 6km to work every day , which is getting much easier now its not snowing or blowing a gale.

Its actually possible to walk all the way round False Creek in Vancouver now as they have extended the sea wall walk, check it out , its amazing.

MARCH 30th Blog continues... HALF WAY mark for training today, officially did 21km , but actually a bit more cos of walking to get there. Walked from Granville Island to UBC and back again. The weather yesterday was so cold and wet with wind and snow , but today was totally different with sunshine and blue skies and bald eagles nesting in front of snow capped mountains. We really do live in a beatiful place. I discovered I have muscles in the tops of my legs , ouch. But apparently thats normal. Every training session I have the support of fellow walkers and runners, coach - Betty Jean and mentor- Linda. Just ate heartily and now its time for a nap I think!

Blog continues...

Did 26 km yesterday , rain and cold,,, but still Vancouver manages to be a beautiful place!... I have to speed up apparently . Pretty tired after the "Fools for the cure "event , what with being roady and producer... so somewhat fazed today. .. more next week.

APRIL 19th ... BLOG continues...Thanks for all the advice you have given me so far.... including " hey watch out for the grizzlies" and " Watch out for the Polar bears..." and Watch out for the moose"...

BLOG MAY 2 ,Last week we did an amazing walk round False creek and Stanley Park, 27km

,, MAY 5th ...click below to see the route we took Sunday 4th May. 30Km

Blossom and tulips everywhere!! Last few KM were a bit tough. That's when memories of peoples encouraging words really do come in handy.

BLOG 10th May... Had a great night out at YUK YUKS comedy club last night , a FUNdraiser that was really fun, Dr Russell Kennedy was a hoot!

MAY 25th.....Yard sale was a lot of work but a lot of fun too. Thankyou to ebveryone who helped , especially Michael and family , Liinda, and Patricia. ALso specail thanks to Vancouver Art gallery, Harbour Cruises and Haircats who donated prizes for the raffle,

It takes a bit more focus to walk on these hotter days, and Iwas very tempted to just jump into Kits pool as we passed by, walking shoes and all.

JUNE 15th Last Group training session today before i go to Alaska, Strange how easy 10 or 15km is now, Lots and lots of lovely memories over the months I have been training, snow, wind, sunny days and breezy days. Apparently a lot of gravel on trails in ALaska, and someone just warned me to get a lot of Bug Off... or at least thats what i thought they said!

Thankyou to everyone who has encouraged me this far , your encouraging words and thoughts will come in very handy on marathon day.

JUNE 23 So I did it !!!, 7 hours and 40 mins!

What the hell is an IT Band and why do i have one in my leg, at mile 23 I would gladly have given it away.

At mile 25 ,a woman stood all day to cheer us on, on her placard it said ,"Thankyou, i survived Leukemia because of the funds you raise for research. She gave me the inspiration to get up that hill , pain and all.

Thankyou to everyone who has supported TNT . At the meetings before the marathon we heard from people who are alive today because of generous donations to fund research and patient services , please keep giving.
