Running with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
HELLO AND THANKS FOR VISITING MY WEBSITE!
My experience volunteering at CCS Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp for children whose lives have been affected by cancer, has left a life-long imprint on my heart.
Several of these children have been faced with life-altering challenges I believe no child should ever have to face. I was overwhelmed to tears when I found the words "why me" written by a camper.
Their laughter and smiles have motivated me to undertake my own challenge and to use my own energy and sweat to join the race to find a cure.
On May 7th, 2006 I will run 21.1 km in the Vancouver International Adidas Marathon, as a participant of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's Team In Training program.
You may be thinking, “She’s crazy!” So rather than ask you to join me at the wee hours of the morning for a L-O-N-G run, let me do the running for you while asking for your support along the way.
Before hitting the final pavement, my goal is to fundraise over $2000 to advance the society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. In 2005, it was estimated 11,220 Canadians would be diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma and 5,330 would die*.
You can support my run for a cause by mailing in a donation, donating directly on this website or by attending an event.
