AJ Heroux's Team In Training Page
Racing for a Reason
Thank you for visiting my TNT page!
I am training to participate in the Disney Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Everyone one the team has got a reason to train, and a reason to fund raise. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Just about everyone knows a family member, co-worker or friend who has been affected by cancer. If organizations like TNT can continue to raise money, then in short time, many of these blood cancers could be cured, or at the very least made into manageable and livable conditions. It is a very real problem, that is completely within our power to solve! If you choose to donate, I am also asking you to think about people in your life that are fighting, have died from, or survived a battle with some form of cancer. If you know someone, if you'd like I will place their name on an appropriately colored ribbon (purple for Leukemia, pink for breast cancer, etc) and run in honor/memory of them on your behalf. Every little bit helps! At least 75% of the money raised goes directly to patient services and the families we're trying to help! Even a $5 donation brings me closer to my goal, and brings LLS closer to theirs. Here's what you can do to assist me:
What am I doing? Why?
How can you help?

Ever wonder how far your donation can go?
$25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
$50 registers one person to be a bone marrow donor.
$75 provides HLA (bone marrow) typing for a family member of a patient with leukemia.
$100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
$150 provides 10 patients access to a web-conference to learn about their specific blood cancer.
$300 will train 25 peer volunteers who can provide emotional support to newly diagnosed patients.
$500 could provide patient aid to a person with Leukemia or a related cancer for an ENTIRE YEAR.
$1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
On to the Finish
When I cross that finish line in January, I hope that's going to feel wonderful, knowing that I've made a difference in helping those in serious need, and that I've done so through the support of all those around me. Thank you.
