Racing and Raising for a Cure in Anchorage

Before the San Fransisco Nike Women's Marathon!

Here I go again! After completing my first marathon with Team In Training at the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, I am coming back for seconds! Image and video hosting by TinyPicIn June, I will be completing the Alaska Marathon with Team in Training, as a mentor, so as I fundraise and train, I will also be helping new runners get their fundraising off the ground! And you know something crazy? After I did Team in Training last season, my friends were so intrigued and inspired by the cause that 13 of my high school friends have signed on to run with me and Team in Training in Alaska!Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic For all of you who donated to my first marathon endeavour, thank you, thank you, thank you! I could not have made it to the finish line (in 4 hours and 25 minutes!) without your support. Team in Training is a non-profit organization that helps you train for marathons with team members from your local chapter while you fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have to raise $5,400 for my particular event. Team In Training runners are raising funds to help develop treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and myeloma. I have “honored team mates” that I am running for who have undergone cancer treatment. One is a 7 year old girl named Hannah Gilbert who is in remission for Acute Leukemia and the other is my 6th grade math teacher, Mrs. Lemley, who won the fight against Hodgkin’s disease. Read about Mrs. Lemley Image and video hosting by TinyPicI'm also completing this event in memory of Eunice Allen, a wonderful family friend who passed away last year with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Image and video hosting by TinyPicI am also honoring of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! I may not be running a mile in someone else's shoes that has cancer, but I am running a full marathon in my own shoes for them instead! So please help me get one step closer to the goal by donating to the cause on my fundraising page! The average donation is $100, but whatever you can or are willing to give is greatly appreciated. Any little bit counts! Image and video hosting by TinyPic
