Racing to Save Lives

Cheers to friendship & inspiration!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Dear Family and Friends, As many of you may know, I completed the Houston half-marathon in January of this year. I never knew I would be able to accomplish that lofty goal. When I did, I wrote to you and spoke of the amazing sense of accomplishment, I spoke of setting goals, finding strength and relying on pure determination. I even threw out a semi-challenge to myself to attempt the full marathon in 2007, but I have found a much more worth while goal! My dear friend and teaching partner, Lori Evans, was just diagnosed with lymphoma. She is currently undergoing intensive radiation and chemotherapy treatments. I have witnessed first hand what this horrible cancer can do to a person, her family, and all who love her! I want to make a difference and I can with your help. I am honored to be participating in this year's Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, California on October 22nd. As a participant in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training ® program, I have pledged to train for a half-marathon on Lori’s behalf to help raise money for leukemia research and patient assistance programs. My goal is to raise at least $4,000 by August 1st for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and for Lori. It is estimated that leukemia and its related cancers will strike 106,000 Americans this year and some 57,500 Americans will lose their lives to the disease. Leukemia kills more people between the ages of two and fourteen than other disease, with the number of afflicted adults being ten times that of children. So, won’t you please consider joining me in this quest to fund a cure? Would you please make a donation today? It will be easy to say “yes” for those of you that know Lori because you have seen her pour out her heart and soul to the families she has taught during the last 18 years. For those of you that do not have the privilege of knowing Lori personally, please say “yes” to the thousands of children and adults afflicted with this cancer. Together we can set the goal, find the strength and use pure determination to make the difference! Please consider contributing $100.00, but know that EVERY dollar counts, so please give what you can. I’ll be sure to let you know the total contributions given by August 1st. Or, you can check back on this website to stay informed. You can also expect to hear from me once I’ve completed the half marathon. Thank you and welcome to the team! Kim
