Racing to Save Lives
On June 3, 2007, I will be cycling for a reason much more important than the personal challenge of completing The America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride. A 100-mile bike ride in a single day.
As a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® program, I have pledged to train on the behalf of Jack Dragna to help raise money for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma research and patient assistance programs.
Jack is a 4 year old boy who has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. and is currently schedule to complete his treatment in March 2007. I’m also riding in memory of my Aunt Elma Marie Trevino. Elma contracted Leukemia in 1970 and lost her battle 2 years later at the age of 9.
As you may or may not know, leukemia is the #1 disease killer of children and the leading fatal malignant disease of men and women under the age of 35. Although the cause of leukemia remains unknown, recently developed treatments and steady advances in research bring us closer to a cure every day.
These research advances were only achieved as a result of contributions made by companies, foundations and individuals. The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has a goal of raising $1 million this year through Team In Training… won’t you help us meet this goal by sponsoring my efforts.
My goal is to raise $4900 by (March 10, 2007). Please donate!! In doing so, you will be supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s vital mission, which is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. With the generosity of people like you, there is every reason to believe that a cure for blood-related cancers is in sight!
