Changing lives one mile at a time.....

Hello!

Thanks for visiting my Team In Training home page.

My name is Diana Brewer & I have just completed the Mayor's Midnight Marathon in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska on June 23, 2007.

I work as a physician assistant in Stem Cell Transplant which treats patients battling various types of hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, & myeloma. Each day I am reminded of how advances in medical research make a difference in our patients' lives.

I participated in this event for our honored teammate, Ernest Lopez from Houston, Texas. Ernest was diagnosed with ALL in May 2005 and he is now 4 yrs old & currently in remission! It is the patients who are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

As a member of The Team In Training, I met my goal of completing a marathon but more importantly helped fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The LLS's Team In Training is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to providing donations which fund advancements in medical research & allow for continual education for patients, their family & friends affected by blood cancers.

Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested $500 million in leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma research. The Society is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individual & corporate contributions, from people like YOU.

Where does the money go?

$25-provides patients & their loved ones free up-to-date information booklets on their disease & helps patients make informed decisions concerning their treatment options.

$50-provides family support groups with trained facilitators for patients & their families.

$100-helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies & materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.

Although the race has come & gone, it's not too late to donate. Please consider making a donation to support the Team In Training & help advance the Society's mission.

Feel free to forward this along to your family & friends & thanks again for your support!

UPDATE: The Mayors Marathon was excellent! WOW-I did it! What is even more impressive is this event raised more than 5.1 million dollars!!! Thank you all for your support in helping us find a cure! take care & have a wonderful weekend....
