Racing to save lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Ok, we're here! I can't believe it, but I leave for San Francisco on Friday at 6:45 am. Saturday, I'll be pounding the carbs, and Sunday at 5:30 am, I'll be at the starting line shivering from both nerves and the cold weather. It should be about 50 degrees at that point.
Thank you so much for all of your support throughout my training. When I started this endeavor, the finish line was just this intangible goal in my head. Now it's right in front of me, and I can't believe I'm about to take my last few (ok many) steps toward it.
I will think of you all before and after the event. I doubt I will think about much during the race itself since during my training runs, all I really think about is gatorade and the hope that I will eventually stop running at some point. Sometimes I think about french fries, but that's about it. Sorry, I just don't think about people while I run. No offense.
I would like to invite you to send me, via email, any encouraging words or sarcastic quips like "I'm sitting on the couch watching movies and eating ding dongs; what are you doing?" so that i can print them out and read them at mile 20 or so. Make them short. I won't be able to read much at that point, and I'm cutting them out and putting them in my fuel belt pocket.
Oh, and for those of you who didn't get the last update: my foot is fine. It's just tendonitis. Yea! Wish me luck!
