Running & Talking to Save Lives!
Hello my name is Timothy Bednarz a.k.a "Team in Training Tim" from Mix 106.5 and Yup...Here I go again! I am back fund raising for Team in Training.
I have been involved with Team in Training since February of 2006 where I did my first fund raising drive for my first ever marathon. You guys helped me raise over $3,500.00 for running in the Rock 'n Roll Marathon San Diego!
In that first season I met so many people who either have Leukemia or Lymphoma and are now in remission or people who were already in my life who told me they had lost loved ones to the blood cancers. I also met people I did not know until I joined the "Team" with whom I have developed a bond and friendship with to this day This has kept me connected and passionate about the team right along side the feel good feeling of fund raising and community awareness.
This season I've made it about the fund raising and the awareness of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society / Team in Training and not so much about my first ever marathon and what that accomplishment meant. I am also honoring my friend Phil who has been fighting Leukemia for the last 2 years as well as Bay Area icon Coach Bill Walsh and little Jaida who I was introduced to last year. Both lost their life to the disease.
My running commitment this season has been a bit different than the last go around. I commited to running in 2 half marathons back to back in October and then a full marathon in December. I ran in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon San Jose, and the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco. Now those are over and I'll end this season by heading up to Sacramento to run in the California International Marathon. This has been a way for me to stretch out the amount of time to promote the message while fund raising.
For my fund raising I of course am asking for cash donations but I also have been offering the option to buy a beautiful piece of handmade jewelry created exclusively for my fund raising efforts by my friend Sona Lofaro of Sona's Workshop.
Sona has also been touched by Leukemia & Lymphoma in her life so she created an amazing bracelet made with sterling silver and Swarovski crystals in Team in Training colors which you can buy for $75.00. Sona will donate $30.00 of your $75.00 donation to my fund raising effort. $45.00 has to go to cover the cost of material, shipping & insurance. This means she can keep making more and more so we can raise as much as we can!
