Ready to See a Cure for Cancer? So Am I.

For the 10th anniversary of IronTeam, I have committed to raise $5000 in donations for the LLS.

I am dedicating my fundraising to two remarkable people. The first is Helga, Friedrich’s mother and the grandmother our kids will never know. Cancer took her from us in 1996.

The second is Louie Bonpua, a Filipino triathlete who succumbed to leukemia in 2002. Louie single handedly raised cancer awareness in the Asian-American community. It is because of his voice that our children have a chance at finding an Asian bone-marrow donor if they should ever need a transplant. We pray that they will never need to rely on Louie’s kindness.

Training for an endurance event with the LLS’s Team in Training program is a metaphor for the experience of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. And, though I won’t be racing an Ironman triathlon in 2008, I will be training with the team and racing at the Half-Vineman (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile ride, 13.1-mile run) triathlon on July 20. I will also be supporting the Team as Web Captain.

The Society prides itself on being able to give 75% of all IronTeam donations directly to blood-cancer research. Donations are 100% tax deductible. Company matching is always encouraged.
